My mother is has the best care. The staff is always so professional, polite and caring. I highly recommend Shadelands over any other post acute.
On the eve of my discharge from Shadelands, I am musing about the best way to showcase the extraordinary treatment I received during my six weeks here. I guess I shall simply recount the different aspects of my experience. The physical setting is everything one might hope for in a resort. My private room, with a door opening onto a tree lined patio, was kept spotless at all times by a zealous housekeeping staff. Whenever she was cleaning in my room, Yesenia genially tolerated my sorry attempts to practice my Spanish with her. For this feat of endurance, she deserves a medal. The food was remarkably good. The menu was varied. If you didn’t fancy a particular meal, I could select from a very diverse list of alternatives. In addition, Princess, the culinary queen of Shadelands made regular rounds, interviewing each patient about special needs and requests. On several occasions, I requested and got special salads. The rehab program was equally tailored to individual needs. On one occasion, a physical therapist (Kashvi) noted that my walker was too short. Her adjustment made all the difference in my gait. On other occasions, Hayley, Alexis, and Penny set up games and obstacle courses for me that— as well as improving my balance—stimulated my brain. Arcel, the activity director, made sure my social skills didn’t atrophy during the separation from my friends and family. The nursing staff’s skill was matched only by its zeal in making sure all bases were covered. Every day Judith, the Director of Nursing, and Herna, Assistant Director, visited and quizzed every patient about his/her status. Any emergent issues were immediately addressed. Andrei and Janice have also been very solicitous . The CNAs were brilliant caregivers. Keona, Marshall, Frosten, and Labitha all deserve kudos for the myriad accommodations they made for me. JJ may be the most sensitive wound specialist west of Rockies. Whenever he had to pull out one of my stitches, he flinched more than I did. Finally, thanks to Cristina, the social service director, who expedited my smooth discharge and my follow-up care at home without missing a beat. Finally a shout-out to the all the other staff members who contributed in small or big ways to my rapid recovery. I can almost say it was worth a broken hip to experience the immersive healing experience provided at Shadelands.
